The Virginia Women’s Foundation (VWF) is dedicated to capitalizing courage and creating change by investing in women, girls, and gender-expansive people across Virginia. We ignite bold leadership, dismantle systemic barriers, and advance policies, programs, and community partnerships that foster social and economic transformation throughout the Commonwealth.
Our mission is carried out through programs that develop leadership, build confidence, amplify voices, and equip participants with the tools to make lasting impact. By supporting VWF, you enable initiatives that strengthen Virginia’s communities, cultivate the next generation of leaders, and elevate bold ideas across the state.
Who is included when we say women and girls?
When say women and girls, we include cis and trans women and girls.
As an organization we use a gender, racial, and economic equity lens to guide our work. We celebrate a diverse spectrum of gender identities and expressions including non-binary and gender-expansive people.

Grantmaking allows us to strategically lift up innovative approaches to gender, racial, economic and social justice. Community members have the power to support powerful ideas that can lead to long term sustainable change.

We are on the frontlines educating and advocating for courageous and outside-the-box ideas. Our leadership and training programs engage women and girls in hands-on creation and exploration of their dreams and ideas for a more equitable and just society.
